Two questions:
Are you adding a resistor between start and wiper or start and end? The added resistor is much higher than the resistance of the pot?

Solder across pins 1 and 3.
Use 500 for the first value and 1500 for the second, and you get 375.

I'd have to try it, I might have my NS a bit too high.

But honestly, I feel dumb because I just Googled the solution for this in terms of using master vol/tone on a guitar with different output pickups. They recommend rolling the volume back to 7, not 5. Last I recall, I had noticed this but it didn't really "take" in my memory until now.
