BF BandMaster Head...B Bent

I just bought a '65 BandMaster head from a forumbro.

Everything seems fine, but there isn't all that much volume until the knob gets to about 6 or so, and then it really takes off.

I haven't pushed it too much as I just got it today and I'm not sure of the power rating of the speaker I'm putting it through.

Is this typical? Any comments?

B Bent...does yours do this also?

Thanks

Dave

My amp has a busted pot in the Volume slot, no sound at 2 3 and 4 but sound at 1 and as soon as i get past 5 its ear splitting loud. Take it to a Tech.

Greco,

I have a BF Bandmaster amp, mine's a '67 I got from Puckboy. It certainly does NOT behave the way you're describing your amp. You need to get it to a tech and have it looked over bro...if it's not just a pot problem (lol) it could be a transformer issue or something else that could worsen with use.

Good luck!

Yeah dude most old Fender amps do nothing from 0-1.5 then take it up to 5 for max volume. After 5 only the gain structure will change. That's the way both of mine do. I'd say you have a pretty easily fixable issue.

Thanks for all the responses.

Our local amp tech. really enjoys working on old tube amps, so I'll have him take a look at it.

Apparently, it has had some cap. work done on it in the recent past....unfortunately, no specific information about this.

Man whatever it is I wouldn't sweat it all. An old Fender head is easy to fix especially when it's something as simple as that issue you are having.
