I'm looking to install a single BG-1400 pickup in my Joe Strummer Tele and remove the neck pup, tone pot/capacitor, and 3-way switch. What single volume pot would I use to wire this up? 250k or 500k?
+1 for a top quality 250k audio taper pot. You will be using it a lot to adjust the degree of overdrive saturation in your amplifier.
My personal preference would be to install a Fender No-Load tone control. It will be out of circuit most of the time but readily available on those occasions when you need it. e.g. For Gibbons-esque honk tones and smooth "woman tone" soloing.
