So if i get the same brand/model EL34's for my VHT will i need to bias it as well?

If you get the same brand and same type tube,you should be able to just install the new tubes...That's always been the theory behind Groove Tubes and their numbering system.

It's always a good idea to bias for the best tone, but I think the whole biasing for saftey thing is a little overblown.

Even if you buy a bunch of non-matched tubes from the same supplier, you could see upwards of 15-20 mA range in tubes from the coldest to the hottest in the same tube model.

I prefer to bias and know than guess and wonder.

Yeah except Randall Smith is against adjustable fixed bias,so you have to use their tubes or have a bias pot installed in your Mesa amp...


It's a great racket isn't it John?

They get to sell their own tubes to the owners of their amps. They get you for the purchase price of the amp which comes with a warranty, and then get into your pocket for the maintenance.
