Bias the amp

Re: Bias the amp

i have a weber bias rite head (i use my own multimeter) its a great tool and easy to use. in general i tend to bias a little hotter than joe said.

I usually suspend the chassis with books, have the bias tool and mA meter sitting next to it. Then, I plug in the guitar and hit chords. Without touching the guitar, I'll use the plastic handled screwdriver to hear the amp at different increments. My main goal is to have the amp sound exactly like I want it, and secondly, read the numbers to make sure they're not off the map.

I've biased some amp hotter, just to get more breakup....usually on single channel amps. On channel switching amps, they usually sound better when the bias is right on the money
