Big D vs. Power Screamer *Sound Clips*

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
Someone on another forum asked if I would recommend either the Big D or a Power Screamer for use with a modelling amp, and I said it would be better to make clips and you can judge for yourself. I thought you might find this interesting.

This is a repeating riff played through a VG-88 going straight into the mixing desk. I played a Les Paul with a Bare Knuckle Riff Raff in the bridge and a Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday in the neck. The VG-88 was set for a clean plexi tone with no other effects. The clips are:

Re: Big D vs. Power Screamer *Sound Clips*

Hmm...

I've no idea what these pedals are....so no bias on my part...

I'd say the screamer sounds a little more pleasant overall...though its got this weird compression on high end attack...squishy...like an EMG

But I think the best overall tone between both peds... for my tastes anyways was Diode 3.. I didn't care much for the other diodes...

Neat test Ben..thanks for posting it!
