Man am I digging this pedal. I've always wondered how Kim Thayil got the sustain and sweet woman tone he did on "Rusty Cage" and now I know. He had to have used a Big Muff. I'm sure there are other ways, but none that are as surefire as using a big muff and a neck pickup. You get the bucketloads of semi-controllable sustain and also the sweet gritty woman tone that just rocks. I did that on my Hamer Daytona that I just loaded up with Area 58 pickups. The sustain just lasted and lasted like I had a les paul plugged into a cranked amp, but the amp wasn't cranked at all and it was a strat type guitar complete with wilkinson trem.
Using the bright strat, I prefer to have the "wicker" setting off and the tone stack on with the tone set to slightly over mid-way. That tames the brightness of the strat nicely and leaves warm fuzzy grit behind. I think with darker humbuckers the wicker switch will prove to be more useful. I'm digging on the darker sludgy tones this pedal provides. It's really neat IMHO. Perfect for grungy stuff.
It's still the honeymoon phase. It's noisy as hell. That's one thing I'm not digging about it. Gonna need a noise suppressor on the tail end of my pedalboard or I'll lose my mind using it. I'll lose my mind with a smile on my face though...
