Big Muff w/ tone wicker Question.

Hello.

I recently got myself a Big Muff with Tone wicker and been playing around with it alot recently. It sounds great but i have one question for others who have/had one of these.

When the 'wicker' is engaged , there is the obvious background hum/hissing which becomes more noticeable. I just wanted to compare it to other owners.

For instance , when i have tone switch off with the wicker on - Tone and Sustain set around 1 o'clock for example - The background noise is a little too much for comfort. Is this the same for other owners?

Is this running on a battery? Also, are you using singles or buckers?

I had one very briefly (did not like), but my suspicion is that as you disengage the tone stack the signal is increased -- and so is any noise

Re: Big Muff w/ tone wicker Question.

Do you normally have any noise? Like the previous poster said, with the tone switch off there is more gain/volume and therefore the noise is amplified too. And with the wicker switch on it is letting more high's through which in a noisy environment could be noiser.

I've got the Tone Wicker myself and I haven't had any problems with noise except for some noise I have pretty much all the time. The electrical lines for the house run through the room I practice in so when large appliances are running I get a lot of extra noise in general.

Re: Big Muff w/ tone wicker Question.

like some other people have said, i believe that noise is just the extra high end created by turning off the tone pot

Re: Big Muff w/ tone wicker Question.

Yeah im currently just using the battery.
My guitar has a humbucker on the bridge , Single in the middle and P90 on the neck.

I suppose it could be some other appliances in my room. My room is rather small and i have a PC that is usually on, along with speakers and various other things.
The tone control seems to be okay , its just the wicker bumps up the noise alot when the sustain or tone is up which isnt a major issue and im guessing its kinda normal.
