Big News for Zoom MS-50G Users

Some guy (in Japan, I think) reverse-engineered the MultiStomp's MIDI/USB port and wrote a GUI Patch Editor for it. Here's a link.

https://g200kg.github.io/zoom-ms-utility/

It runs within Chrome and gives full editing, along with the ability to save and restore individual patches or the whole bank of presets. The MS-50G packs a huge amount of processing power into the size of a single Boss pedal, with about 100 different effects, usable up to 6 at a time. Its user interface has always been a drag, though. Mine is fastened to my pedalboard, so editing patches meant getting down on my knees, stooping over the pedal to line up its display in my bifocals, guitar swinging on the strap and banging into the pedalboard's metal frame. Not fun.

Now, I can drag-and-drop effects and patches, see the all the settings for all the effects in a patch at once, adjust parameters using the mouse's scroll wheel, and switch effects off and on with a mouse click. The MS-50G has been my Swiss Army pedal, but it was just doing duty as a tuner, slapback, and tremolo. I set up those three and stopped messing with it, because messing with it was such a pain. With the editor, I'm now digging deeper, building special patches dedicated to individual songs, and exploring some of its fun out-there sounds.

Tons of fun, FOR FREE.

I like this kind of interface. With today's technology, there's no good reason why we can't have more of this.
