Big Rock Les Paul tones!

Re: Big Rock Les Paul tones!

I like C-5/59 for a good all around clear and powerful LP pickup set. For more warmth, I think the CC/Seth is the best hot PAF type setup. That seems to be the 'step up' from the A5 59 set or the A2 Seth set.

Custom/PG or Custom/APH will be a winner for you!

Black Custom with a zebra Pearly Gates at the neck. C'mon, everybody wants their 'Paul to look like mine. :burnout:

I tried to do thta. Wanted them both in zebra, but the shop didn't carry them, so I got 'em both in black. Played for six weeks, realised that I don't like the csutom at all, so now its back in the shop, being switched to a Distortion. :bigok:

The moral of the story: PG neck good, Custom bridge baaaad (at least if you wanna play thrash and stoner)

Re: Big Rock Les Paul tones!

My Classic may end up getting a Rio Grande BBQ. it is just an amzing pickup but I may snag a used Custom and JB to test as well. I am afraid the C-5 will lack mids in this LP with the 60s slim neck.

Not a whole lotta difference in a *properly* set-up Gibson 500T in a Classic and a Distortion...some..but not much. I got my 500T sounding QUITE good. Just gotta play with it. Outta the box, they sound...errr..not so good.

Custom is different animal...great LP pickup...along with a *good* PAF, it's hard to beat a Custom in a paula

Thanks again! Do you know the big difference between the Custom and 500T? I am also considering the Rio BBQ.
