Yesterday I had just been thinking about how much is miss my old Sovtek MIG 50, and then today this monster popped up. The rarest Sovtek of them all. A Bassov Blues Boy 100. 4 6l6 and 2 12AX7 driven. There is very little info on them, but for those that own them they love them. In plugging it in it is a direct cross between my Stramp and my Sunn Model T. The bottom end is MASSIVE, and the amp grinds a vintage noise as well as any "big" name I have ever heard. Blows away my Mig 50H in every way, in all of it's power, the nuance is amazing. Very VERY pleased. I traded a 68 Bassman for it, which I was very fond of, but knowing the rarity of this, I had to do it. Love it!

Just ran it through it's paces. Master dimed, pre just below 5. Weber MASS 200 attenuator in play. Found a couple Brimar 12AX7 tubes to toss in, and this thing just sings.

That's a rare find. I've honestly never seen that model. Seen a lot of MIG's though.

As a matter of fact, one of my local friends built his whole tone around Sovtek amps, and now he's added one of the new Stiff amps to his arsenal...... made by the ex owner of Krank.

A friend of mine who owns a vintage shop said that he too has never seen a Bassov. I had never seen one either. It is a kickin monster! I will check out Stiff amps, never heard of them

This head, like my old MIG 50 is very warm, huge on the bottom end, which I love. This amp just does it better.

I really love migs,sucks they kinda doubled in price around here. Used to see them often for $200-300, but up to $400-$600 now.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get one up. Yes, they like many off brands are no longer secret. That said, tonally this thing hangs with any big power amp I have owned or heard. There is no wishing it could do what I want better.

Wow, that is quite cool. I don't know what I would do with an amp that big now. I think the headroom and dynamic range would scare me! And then I would try to get it to distort like my small amps and go stone deaf in the process!

Just fired it up again, I love the unruly character of a big sounding amp. They hiss, they feedback in a you better keep your hands on the neck kind of way, and they make stuff vibrate. There is a taming the beast thing that is addictive, and in my kid mind even a lil dangerous. This thing behaves like a vintage amp all the way, despite being made in a much later time. It does the Leslie West thing beautifully.

Hello..its a bass amp. Never mind..I misread that rhythm and blues 'band' , as rhythm and blues 'bass'.
Was this affiliated with Electroharmonix? I think they bought the Sovtek tube plant, not sure.

Yes I know, the words say bass amp. I own many bass amps that I use for guitar, the bottom end is a big reason why.
