Bill Lawrences?

I'm ready to order an L500XL for the bridge of my LP, but don't know where to get the "real deal" Lawrences, any suggestions?:beerchug:

Re: Bill Lawrences?

Are they better than the Dimebuckers? I just got one placed in my Gibson SG Special worn brown and I am totally amazed. I can play Dime and R Rhoads riffs like never before. I am disappointed with the JB/Jazz set I placed in my LesPaul and am considering a Dbucker or maybe the B Lawrence.
Any comments, please?

Re: Bill Lawrences?

Do a search for the Dime/XL500 comparision! What comparision there is!

Re: Bill Lawrences?

Hey! i put a lawrence l-500 lead in the bridge of my ibanez rg to replace the boring old tone zone that was in there. holy crap. if your lookin for a harmonic tone with all the highs youll ever need than thats the pickup your gonna wanna go with. i realize that your gunnin for the XL and im not entirely sure of the difference. but these are amazing pickups high quality. badass tone. low prices. http://www.billlawrence.com/ enjoy man.

Re: Bill Lawrences?

Yes that's where I ordered mine from and I would be willing to bet that those are the REAL DEAL...they're great.

Also, a little trick Dimebag did with his, he installed it reverse, as in he flipped the pickup around so it was backwards, dunno what that does but I'm going to try it soon. I've heard it does wonders.

They take a while to get but they are cheap and are of great quality, highly suggested.:beerchug:

Re: Bill Lawrences?

I have a question about these pickups. Do they have a thick bottom? Can anyone hook me up with some soundclips?

Very balanced IMO!

Re: Bill Lawrences?

like theodie said, quite balanced. i dont play metal or shred or anyhting like that, but nonetheless found tapping and pinch harmonics to be incredible with them. and when you play distortion, its still clear. cleans are good, too but it distorts if you pluck hard. great for palm muting too. and even though the xl500 excels at high gain, its great for other stuff too. its a very versatile pickup.

So, this pickup will give me a nice crunch-full-sounding palm mute? And punch someone in the face when I pluck a choard hard? If so, I think I'm going to order one.

Sorry for bumping an old topic by the way.

you might also want to look at the invader if you want heavy bottom end. that thing is crazy. its like middy too. i think its really good for palm muting. but for like if you want the best of everything, the xl 500 is awesome.

Is there anyway I can call up Bill and Becky and have them recommend stuff to me or something?

Yeah, that probably wouldn't put me in the good-books. But where is the number accesible?

Re: Bill Lawrences?

I contacted via email last time, but I hear they're quite busy lately.

Becky suggested to me that I go with the L500XL for sure, but I don't know how extreme your styles go. If you're going Pantera...probably the XL.

Re: Bill Lawrences?

They are EXTREMELY busy. I spoke to Becky on January 6th to order an XL-500. She was very helpful with recommending pickups and colors, even though I already knew what I wanted. I was quoted a 4 week wait, and now it's 8 weeks. I called them back, Becky said they were extremely busy in the packing area, but they were being shipped.

Just a head's up that it will take you longer than you expect to get the pickup

Re: Bill Lawrences?

thats what happened to my friend. he was told 4 weeks, and it took 9 or 10. but the wait is worth it.

you should be able to get the number off of the website. just look for any contact info or ordering info pages.
