Well, not HIS, but the same amp he used on Eliminator. A Legend Rock & Roll 50 with single 12" Celestion. I got it from my other guitarist, he had it a while, he's got killer amps, Dr Z, Soldano, Marshall, Mesa and others. I asked if he had a combo he's like to sell, he had this old Legend he was'nt using. My first impression was ugly, I had a furniture refinishing biz before, and it looked like grandmas rocker...kinda early Boogie with the cane grille, but Boogies had nice Koa wood, this was finger jointed Oak and kinda dried out. When he showed me the article about Billy G using this same amp on Eliminator, I had to fire it up. It's LOUD..like my old JBL Twin Reverb loud, there's a mystery knob on the back panel, it's the magic gain boost...turn up the preamp vol, twist that knob behind and BAM, instant bone crunching Texas tone. I was sold! I got Billy Gibbons rock & Roll Gearhead book, I looked at it to get inspired, metalflake, kandy, chrome, pinstripes...all good. I knew this bad boy had to be kicked up a big notch from grannys rocker. All my amps have Fender wheat cloth, I still had one old Magnavox amp chevron emblem, found the kool hotrod emblem and I got busy filling the old finger joints and smothing out a few rough spots. The handle was ripped out and replaced with a new one. Silver base, silver flakes, kandy green and gobs of clear with pearl. I dig how perfect the wheat cloth matches the gold annodized panel. The emblems look just right, and I just put down a few pins to finish the hotrod look. I think Billy would dig it...:smokin:
