Billy Gibbons amp

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

Thanks Doc. I get to use it at volume today at a jam, we're facing the ocean so I can let it cut loose, don't think this bad boys been outta its cage in decades!

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

Wow.. man... that is cool! You have to play a cool looking hotrodded guitar through that? The look of amps doesn't really do anything for me... yours just changed all that. Nice one... now show us a guitar that goes with it and that will just take the cake.

You don't know Butnut! Custom, uber-pimped [fill in the blank: guitars, amps, bikes, cars, furniture...] is his specialty!!!

You can't really see his unique take on a Telecaster control plate on "Goldie" shown below. The switch is labelled "Holy" & "Crap" ;)

The "Ratfink" guitar Butnut made is another all time favorite of mine.

Ive got the karma to be posession of Bro Butnuts Jimmy Vuaghan reliced body. It aint easy to relic Polyurethane, but he did a great job of it. Its reliced to a degree that the abhorent (to me, leastways) thick Poly finish is taperd down to resemble a Nitro Strat, and to let that nice Alder body breathe & reverberate.
Now i neeed a Nice beautiful Maple neck and I'm in business.!

Notice only 3 pot holes? I'm guessing one for the toggle (no hole also) and single vol/tone....my kinda mods...****, that's a sweet goldie.

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

WOW that strat looks great!
You should make a thread with all your work and post the link on your sig (because we really need the GAS)

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

Thanks. ****, this amp is LOUD! Did I say that....the drummer had to be the loudest in the world! **** stainless steel Octa-plus dub bass set, head splitting loud MF...I only had it to 2.5 and it was crazy loud. Always good to know I got a lot of reserve volume left, but yeah, this combo kicks ass...and then some.
Here's my lilypics page, I don't have much luck linking it for some reason, but take a look.

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gibbons would want to buy that thing from you now. NOT AT ALL.

Incredible job. I am very, very impressed.

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

NEW STUFF ROCKS!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: especially after butnut is done with it!!!

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

My toilet seat is prominently displayed in my office/music room. It rocks, I'd put it to official use but if anything happened to it I'd ****! (pun intended)

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

haha, kool, I don't even know if my brother uses it...thanks again mrfjones and hoss. The Legend has another volume knob out back for a lead boost volume...how kool. I just ordered a killer switch from VoodooMan custom switches. The owner had 2 of these amps!

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

Re: Billy Gibbons amp

Thanks again dave....not only is this amp a pretty face, it kicks ass! The missing link of my sonic quest, I had the BEST tone ever at my last gig. I use the Reverend, the Legend and a Fender. I've used the Reverend and the Fender before, but with the Legend, the perfect mid crunch. Very Marshall like, a big clear crunch with just enough gain. Using 3 amps give me such a big range of tone, when all 3 are used, it's pure rock tone. I also feel the Duncan 59s in my LP are part of the great tone, I roll the volumes down a notch to help keep the gain from going OTT. Could also be I just switched all 3 amp cables to George Ls? I don't know, but I was really shocked how great everything sounded. My buddy who gave me the amp (guitarist in my other band) came to see us, called me later to tell me that I had really great tone....he was blown away. He's a total tone freak/gear nut with Marshall, Boogie, Mesa, Soldano...we talked at length about my tone and tried to dissect it, making sure I keep it for our band too:fing2:. Hauling 3 amps and an ext cab to gigs may not be easy, but my 'wall of tone' gives me what I want. It's still 4-12s,but won't break my back like a half stack. I'll take a pic at my next gig.
