Birthday NGD!

Happy Birthday to ME!

I nabbed a used Fender American Special Mustang today! This is a really oddball guitar. First off, it's the first American made Mustang in quite a long time. Second, it's not a traditional Mustang. This baby is an HH configuration with dual Atomic Humbuckers. It also has a stoptail and tune o matic bridge. 3-way selector switch. AND the volume knob is a push pull switch that when pulled gives split coil wiring for each of the pickups.

Plus black, red tort, and zebra pickups. What's not to like?

And if that's not enough she came with a proper Fender hardshell case too.

I got it home, pulled it apart, and gave it a proper deep cleaning. Also added copper sheilding tape to all the cavities while I was in there. Tomorrow I'll give it a proper setup. Whee!

Badass! Planning on leaving the fender pickups?
For the time being yeah. The only Fender HB I've had previous experience with is the Diamondback - which I don't like. I'll see how it goes with these for a while.

Happy belated Birthday and Offset Guitar Day!

I have played those and they did a good job at making humbuckers that are bright enough to not kill the mustang vibe but sound meaty when you play rock.
And even with a stoptail, they still sound a lot like a mustang! That's a lot of win!

Re: Birthday NGD!

Worked on the setup last night. Flattened out the neck and the intonation was about a mile out.

Pickups are really hot. Trying to decide whether it's better to set them high or lower.
