That's what I would do my friend.:)

Hello buddy....That's what I did and got it all nice and adjusted....Sweet sounding 62 reissue strat..I had SSL6s in it before and I grew tired of the higher output/more mid single coils...

Hi John, Since the neck and middle pickups are RW/RP relative to each other you'll always have humcancelling when they are combined...as you know. In order to have humcancelling when the bridge and middle are combined, they need to be RW/RP relative to each other too. If you have another Strat pickup of any kind that's not installed in a guitar, take it and hold its polepirces against your three pickups one at a time. What you want is for it to be either attracted or repelled to the neck and bridge pickup: if it's attracted to the neck then it should also be attracted to the bridge, and repelled by the middle...if it's repelled by the neck than it should be repelled by the bridge also, and attracted to the middle. My guess is that you can correct the problem you're having by swapping the positions of the neck and middle pickups. If you're using a blender pot to combine the neck and bridge pickups, you'll probably have humcancelling if you leave your guitar as is, BTW. I've wired a few Strats that way intentionally because I do use the Blender pot on all of my Strats and the neck and bridge combined is one of my favorite tones...and I like for it to be humcancelling. As for whether I hear a diff if the middle is RW/RP or not: I don't know! I've never wired a guitar with three identical pickups and then changed just the middle to RW/RP to see if I hear a diff. But my feeling is that I wouldn't hear a diff and even if I did, I'd still use the RW/RP so I could have humcancelling. Good luck! Lew

Wow! Great info as usual Lew! I did get the wiring all fixed up.I just needed to put the APS2 Neck to the middle and the APS2 middle over to the neck, but the Texas Hot I already had wired fine to work with the exchanged middle pickup...I Like the APS2s...They're sweet and smooth, almost borderline on being darker compared to having chime like an A5 Surfer or the SSL1s,but I Like them...I had a set of these that were laying around, plus a Texas Hot Custom and I pulled a calibrated set of SSL6s out...I guess I'm really just into stock single coil winds these days and a beefier bridge pickup...I'd love another Surfer neck and middle, but I just can't spend that money at the moment...

Cool! I just picked up a Hamer Daytona that the previous owner had installed Duncan APS-1 alnico 2 pickups in. I bought the guitar for gigging and plan to install one of the two prototype sets of the Stack Plus Pickups I have in it. But I compared the APS-1 equipped Daytona to my Strat with one set of the Stack Plus Prototypes and I have to say that the new Stack Plus Pickups continue to blow me away!

They're louder, stronger and they don't hum. I didn't think I would prefer them tone-wise to the APS-1's...but I do!

Your next set should be the new Duncan Stack Plus Pickups, John...they are sensational.

Lew....I'm not planning on doing anything at the moment, but PM me the price...I'm curious? Lew also,do you like the bridge pickup on these new noiseless better than the TB,Surfer,or Texas Hot Customs in the bridge?

Also...Are the Stack Plus pickups flat pole or staggered...The staggers tend to create problems for us leftys at times..I always install my staggered pickups so I have the correct stagger, but it usually involves a small amount of routing around the cavities..

I have two sets.

The flatter poled original version has the pole's raised just a little bit, and is going in Washburn's Nuno Bettencort model and Evan tells me Duncan will not be offering that set as an after market pickup set...I think that's unfortunate and personally, I think it's a mistake because although it's not as vintage accurate I think alot of guys will prefer it's thicker, slightly warmer tone.

The set Duncan will be releasing is the second set they made for me and it's very close in tone to the Antiquity Surfers: brighter than the first Stack Plus set but still a little bit thicker in the upper mids.

Both sets are the two best noiseless Strat pickups I've ever tried and I plan on using both.

There's a sense of space to a true single coil that's hard to nail with a noiseless design...but I've been playing only the Stack Plus Pickups all summer and now into the fall.

I don't want to say that I prefer them to the Antiquitys...the Ant Surfers are really special pickups. But I'll say this: I put the Stack Plus pickups in my real '63 Strat while I had it apart to do a little restoration. I put them in a new pickguard and although I have the original pickguard and pickups all wired and ready to go back into my '63 I haven't been able to bring myself to reinstall the original '63 pickups and pickguard!

The Stack Plus pickups are THAT good. I like the hotter output, the slightly thicker tone, and the warmth is easier on my ears....and the noiseless hum-free design is such a pleasure! It's really hard now to go back to the original buzzy pickups...

Cool Lew....So the set we'll all be able to buy would have staggers like the Surfers? You'd say these pickups are like a beefier set of Surfers and a bit warmer also? I Like warmth but my ears(as I get older)tell me I need more chime or brightness as my highs in my hearing decline a bit...

What is the projected date when us normal guys can get our hands on the new pickups? Prices roughly also?
