Black Back pickups

I recently heard a McNaught guitar with Duncan Black Back pickups and it sounded great. I don't see them listed anywhere and was wondering what the story is with those pickups?

I have an old Pearly Gates that's a Black Bottom. I don't think, from talking with others on here, that mine had anything to do with Ed Roman. I think way back when, some of the early Duncan's just came with Black Bottoms. At least that's what I can gather from some of my conversations. It is, however, a bit more spicy than my newer Pearlys. Probably just from aging components.

You won't get any information about the blackbacks for the most part. The Seymour Duncan Company has an agreement/contract with Ed Roman as not to divulge any information about them.

Hey GHWelles: something completely different: are you the same person who recently posted on Lace´s website about a customized guitar, which had a Lace Hot Gold 13k in the neck?

Yes, I stuck a Hot Gold Bridge 13 K in the neck. It gives a very powerful neck solo tone, but does not completely kill the treble. I put a treble bleed circuit in and it works best with the volume knowb down a little. Increased treble and still lots of power.

Love him or hate him, Ed's a decent guy in my book. He's opinionated as all heck. And, as a former biker, he's not afraid to get in your face and tell you you're wrong, if he thinks you are. But, all in all, he knows a helluva lot about guitars and pickups and if were really as evil as many people say he is, he wouldn't have survived in this business for so many years.

But that's just me.

I agree with Evan. Every people with strong opinions have their share of love/hate. I dont hate him, not in love with him, but damn! he has a strong knowledge.
