What is this cover made of?

I had naver seen it, is it a new thing?

I ask because I think covered pickups look better, but on the other hand I prefer the sound of uncovered ones. So i was thinking about plastic covers (those shouldn't affect the sound, unlike metallic ones), something similar to EMGs, but than i found this "Black Powder Coat Cover", and here I am.

Welcome to the forum!

As widespread availability goes, yeah, it is pretty new. My guess it is the same material as the chrome ones, just finished differently.

Powder Coat is a special technique of painting metal which is very durable...and nice looking I might add. But if you don't like the sound of metal covers, you'll be disappointed in the tone of the powder coat covers.

Re: Black Powder Coat Cover Material?

I always thought the metal covers did something "magical" to the sound, and have therefore always gravitated towards them.

Like the covers on my Wildkat's P90's. (they feedback as hell, but I've got the silicone-in a tube to correct it...)

as soon as I get my lazy ass around! :D
