Black Sabbath at Hammersmith

Never Say Die - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOUtsHcS-xs

Symptom Of The Universe - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHDHV_K3Ekk

Dirty Women - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDkTdlkJqjQ

Children Of The Grave - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvyAuhU0xvM

Snowblind - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWaLe5qAsFY

I don't know when this was, but it's obviously at the time with the original line-up, the audio and video is great considering the age of it!

God I love Iommi, he's my idol...Even though I'm only 17 and didn't even live at their prime, he amazes me beyond belief with his playing...He's a god.

Anyway, just wanted to share with other Sabbath fans in case you didn't know these videos.

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

whoa those are some really good professional videos I might not have found on my own - rock on - thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

No problem, I really love Sabbath and saw that these videos had been uploaded not long ago, and I've never seen them before either, so I just wanted to share with other Sabbath lovers. I guess they're rare because I've seen alot of Sabbath videos, but never these, and the quality is good so it's cool.

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

Very cool, Iommi has some wicked tone going on with those P90's. Geezer's bass tone is wicked as hell too. Real present on Snowblind.

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

Wow, I thought there would be more Sabbath fans here, you should be ashamed!

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

I watched those videos again - they are pretty mind boggling how much sonic ground sabbath covers...

I am on the whole sabbath trip right now since I just got my copy of "paranoid"...

I am definitely on the lookout for more cool sabbath videos etc

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

I love Sabbath. Geezer is one of my all time favorite bass players. The band sounds great. Ozzy sounds rather rough.

Mwah Haa Haa Haaaah! Sune, you would be surprised how many people just don't get the power of Black Sabbath.

Thanks for the post, I would never have seen these vids otherwise. I live in slow 53K hell...so these are taking forever, but they are worth it.

BTW, the "Snowblind" stage has a huge Never Say Die era pilot's mask in the background, so it is definitely 1978 or so.

Cool, I didn't notice that. But yes, I guess you are right, not many people get the power of them, and alot of people dismiss them right away when they hear Ozzy was the singer in the band's beginning, because they think he can't sing, but he could at the time.. He might not have been the best in the world, but it generally wasn't as bad as people make it out to be.

Dude, you should definately check out more Sabbath albums, both from the Ozzy era, Dio era, etc.

Yeah, the band always sounds great no matter what state ozzy is in.. At least I never really heard them play bad in videos or bootlegs, no matter how ****ed up ozzy might have sounded..I guess the show must go on.

Geezer is a cool mofo.

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

Those Dirty Women solos are just so cool, can't stop watching it :laugh2: Just wish there was a video of N.I.B too.. one of my favourite songs, and the first solo I ever learned was the first solo in N.I.B, so it has a special value for me.

Hey for those interested there's also and album called "the string quartet tribute to Black Sabbath", and "Sabbath In The Suburbs: A Lounge Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath", some of it is quite fun to listen to.. I have the whole string quartet album....

http://www.vitaminrecords.com/web/page.asp (just search for sabbath..And if you like Maiden, there's some tributes too, I have the piano tribute album, and it's killer)

Here's an example of how they made Sabbath Bloody Sabbath sound:

I so regret that I stopped playing violin, I was so damn good and this could have been me playing. By the way, ever heard hammer on's on a violin before? Well, take a listen to the solo in this track then (at least it sounds like hammer on's) :laugh2:

Just re-watched those Sabbath vids. Just as cool as ever. *whips out first album* I really need to hear Behind the Wall of Sleep, the first album is definatly the best one in my opinion. Followed by Vol. 4 and Paranoid(Paranoid and Vol.4 are equals in my mind).

I don't have a favourite Sabbath album as such..I like alot of them for different reasons.. But if you have to mention some of those crucial records with Ozzy, besides the ones you already mentioned, you must not forget 'Master Of Reality'...But as I said, I don't have a favourite, and I couldn't even choose one as my favourite, as I've said before, it's like asking a person "who's your favourite child?"..

Re: Black Sabbath at Hammersmith (great videos)

these were from the never say die tour in 78- there is an official video available of the whole show. ozzy was barely in the band at this point. he had been fired right before Never Say Die, and then asked back. he sounds really rough here, but not nearly as bad as he does lately.
watching this, i realize how much i love post-ozzy Sabbath. some of these songs i like, and i like the later Ozzy-era albums better than the early ones, but overall, the playing, solos, production, and certianly the singing got better later on.

the singing - yes
production - yes
playingwise and solos - I don't agree, that can definately be discussed. I think each era is good playingwise and solowise for different reasons, and that they're pretty different so I wouldn't say that one is better than the other.

+1 to that.

Iommi is one of my all-time heroes. His desceptive simplicity and groundbreaking style are to this day inimitable. Ozzy was in Limbo that night, but the rest of the band was right on. It was great seeing Bill Ward behind that kit, too. Usually the three front men steal the scenery.

Where does one get a hold of the entire show on video?

+1, glad we agree on something.

I would also like to know where the video would be available.
