Black winter + DD HB102N trouble

Hi again fellas. I'm just installed a Black Winter at the bridge of my buddy's Shechter Tempest Custom. It came with the Duncan Designed HB102 set.

Anyway, I wired in the the BW and it works perfectly, but for whatever reason the neck pickup is now barely putting out any signal. The schecter wiring diagram has the grounds and hots backward from the diagram for SD USA pickups I found on the site here. Would I need to wire the DD the same way I installed the BW (black wire to tab, green and bare to ground)? Should I wire the BW the same way as the neck pickup? Could there be another issue I'm just not seeing? Any and all help is super appreciated as always.

I'm sorry if this has been answered before. I did more than a few searches and couldn't find this exact question, only ones about replacing DD sets entirely and such.

Re: Black winter + DD HB102N trouble

DD main hot wire is the green one, but the black/green swap is not the reason that your bucker is not working

Double check the 4 terminals (I know some DDs have tiny wires) ,you should also make sure that white and red are soldered together.

Re: Black winter + DD HB102N trouble

White and red are soldered together and heat shrink wrapped/tucked away.
I haven't changed anything about the way the DD is connected in regards to the green or black wires. It just took a crap one I installed the Black Winter, which is working perfectly.

Re: Black winter + DD HB102N trouble

You bumped/shorted/desoldered/broke a connection somewhere somehow.

Rewire the HB102 from scratch.

+1 for Aceman!

Yes, I think that it should stay with the green as hot to be in phase with you Black Winter

Re: Black winter + DD HB102N trouble

Tapped the neck pickup with a screwdriver while I had the bridge selected and it was making sound. I think I dicked the wires for the switch hot and switch neck somehow and reversed them (or a similarly dumb mistake). Would that be a symptom of such a mistake? I'm gonna mess with it anyway, just taking a break from inhaling solder fumes for a little bit. Thanks for your help, guys.

Re: Black winter + DD HB102N trouble

Well, the switch wires were where they're supposed to be.
The neck pickup still doesn't work properly, and the bridge pickup is suddenly super microphonic, amplifying things such as tapping on the bridge with a pick. The tone control also stopped working.

My solder joints are all shiny and clean, my continuity light and multimeter tell me that juice is getting everywhere it needs to be, unless I'm just not testing things properly. I am at an utter loss. Please help, I'm losing my mind here.

Looks like you need to rewire your guitar

Desolder both humbuckers, connect your bridge humbucker to the neck humbucker lugs in your switch...

If it works, determine the faulty wire in your neck humbucker and resolder it

If it doesn't work, you may need to rewire your guitar, or to buy a new switch
