Black Winter, Nazgul/Sentient & Pegasus/Sentient Questions (6 String Versions)

a few thoughts.

1) Is the ground to the bridge post thoroughly attached? I have seen where the bushing severed the wire so it was installed properly but didnt work right.
2) Do you have dimmers near? Even if off they add a ton of noise.

The ground to the bridge wire is not loose & is firmly attached. However, whether the wire is attached correctly to the correct spot is a good question. I'll contact the guy back so I can get this issue resolved.

By Dimmers, I'm inferring you mean the light switches that vary the brightness of the lights? If so, I have no dimmers around my workstation.

If your computer isn't hooked up to a power conditioner, try that. I was always getting a bit of background noise before I got one (I actually just have a Livewire power strip, but it filters out EMI and RFI). I can't stress the importance of a good, well-shielded cable enough, either. I was using Mogami Golds before, and now I have a Mogami Platinum cable that I use for all of my guitar recording. They're expensive, but well worth the price of admission, especially since they have lifetime warranties. If you have both of those and are still having issues, it is probably an issue with the wiring.

Rheostats, and they don't have to be necessarily that near. I had a couple a couple rooms over that added a lot of buzz to the amp.

By ground to bridge, I was just meaning the connection to the bushing.

First, thanks for coming back with an update on the pickups!! Been itching to pull the trigger on a set for my Charvel, but still leary, but hearing nothing but good things..

Second.. your issue has my interest peeked as I have the same prob with a couple of my guitars.. most are quite silent, but a couple make a hum until I touch the strings. Now, I tend to doubt this, but its hard to... A VERY well respected tech in the Jax FL area told me that this is fine. He said as long as it goes quiet when you touch the strings, all is well. I dunno, cuz most of my other guitars are silent as lucidity..
