Black Winter?

So my old band mate swears by this pickup but I havent been able to try it. Ive always used dimarzios except for my classic pickups. Wha does a black winter resemble in the dimarzio line? Is it modern metal like a deactivator?

I don't personally think it sounds like anything in Dimarzio's catalog. At least, nothing that I've tried. It doesn't sound a thing like the D Activator. The BW's high end is smoother and the mids are more evened out. Very full and powerful palm mutes. It isn't as ice picky as the D Activator.
