Blackface knobs that go to "11"

I'm building a Princeton Reverb clone for a buddy, and he's a "Spinal Tap" freak. Anybody know where I can find a knob that looks like this, but goes up to "11"?

Thanks,

Chip

P.S. We know that a Princeton Reverb isn't exactly a high-gain amp... that's part of the joke ;)

Chip , I had the same idea about 15 years ago !! A buddy of mine worked for this place http://www.ehcknobs.com/ He told me it was doable, But I'd have to pay a tooling charge. I can't remember what the tooling charge was? But it made it to costly for a one off.Now in days with the Internet / ebay /amp forums you could probably order a 500 batch, And sell them. This would cover your initial tooling investment
and maybe put some extra scratch in your pocket.:fing2:
BTW. My buddy doesn't work there anymore.:yell:

fun idea chip - i hope you find em .. i seem to remember seeing an ad in guitar player mag for a company that sold stuff like that .. maybe a google search will turn something up

i always thought it'd be smart for amp makers to just put clock faces around their knobs ... tone tweakers always end up sharing settings that way anyways .. "i had the bass at about 9 o clock and the mids at about 2 o clock and the treble at about noon"
:D

I think the clock-face idea is great. The only trouble is people won't be used to it, so some will be asking why it goes up to twelve, then suddenly to three. These are the kinds of things that give marketing folks headaches. I wish control knobs had the clock-face numbering right from the start.

My amp eschews numbers altogether. The tapered "swoosh" signifies the continuum from low to high, unshackling the player and freeing him from the artificiality of an imposed numbering system.

In reality, laying out numbers in a circular array is a pain, especially before you know how big your knobs will be.

That is very cool.

My little vox has no numbers but I always have to have it at a certain angle so I can recall it quickly if my settings get messed up in any way. I wish I had an amp that clicked into position.

The same for my guitar. I wish that it didn't have any knobs. Maybe just a tone switch.

Hey Rich - I like the "swoosh" look a lot! Maybe a tiny comet/explosion at the top end would finish off the look ;)
