I received my Blackheart today. Plugged into a 4x12 that was being used by the Valve jr. There are subtle differences, with both amps on 1/4, 1/2 and full. I set all the tone controls on the Blackheart to middle, aren't any on Valve jr. At full open both amps are really close. If I switch the blackheart to 3 watts, the volume decreases , but tone remains constant. Both sound really good. I like the 3 tone controls and the 3/5 watt switch on the Blackheart. All in all, both do a good job, the Blackheart does a more "complete" job. If I were going to purchase one, I'd go with the Blackheart. It does all the Valve jr does and a little more. The tone controls add a little more variation to your sound diet. The 3 watt switch will be welcome to those in apartments and etc. Even on 3 it's pretty loud, though.:firing:

No, I don't work in a music store...kinda wish I did. The valve jr was a b'day present from my daughters and I bought the Blackheart. Glad I could be of some help to you guys. I really like both amps, I just feel the Blackheart is a little bit more versatile. As I said, wide open on 5 watts, not much difference, changing the tones helps a lot and the 3 watt switch is handy. :firing::firing:
