You know ive had quite a few Stratocasters over the years with all kinds of pups including Fender Custom shop but i gotta say these pups are really decent sounding for basic pickups.
Id guess they're ceramic mags.
First Strat with the big 70's headstock. I like that.
These guitars are great for what they are and certainly good enough for beginners.

jack pearson plays squier strats almost all the time, though he does have a fret job done, and they sound great. the ceramic pups dont sound like a vintage strat pup, but they are workable and not as bad as some people think

There have been a couple really good blind shootouts done with the cheap Squier ceramic single coils in the mix and they always rank way better than expected...often better than custom shop stuff!
