Blackout Modular Preamp question

So I only just found out about these and I'm kind of intrigued because it neat idea even though I usually like Passives, but I was wondering, what would happen if you plugged Active EMG's into the Blackout Modular Preamp? Would the world just explode?

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp question

I don't know about the world, but my head is going to explode if I keep seeing so many duplicate posts.

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp question

you can pretty much do anything if you try hard enough

Or you can put down the bong and come back to reality rather than quoting a Twitter philosopher (I'm not being serious - don't take it personal).

The coils in active EMGs (I'll use the 81 as an example) are hardwired in parallel inside the pickup, then the start wires go to the enclosed EMG preamp input, while the finish wires go to ground (the EMG preamp output is the pickup's "hot" wire, bare is ground, and red is the power source's (+) wire). Then, the entire enclosure is then epoxied in place - in other words, you cannot get to the EMG coil wires without destroying the pickup. Why do you need access to the coil wires? Because the Blackouts Modular Preamp requires four wires from two coils - the north coil's start/finish wires, and the south coil's start/finish wires. However, even if you had access to the EMG's coil wires (you don't, but if you did), you wouldn't be able to use both preamps the way they were intended: you can't wire the preamps in series, but you could in theory wire them in parallel (splitting each coil's wires into two wires, one set of 4 wires to get to each preamp. However, the schematic for the Blackouts Modular Preamp is not available, and the circuit may not even work in parallel with another preamp - simply due to a difference in design.

TL;DR because I couldn't put down the bong long enough: It's not happening. You can't access the EMG's inner wires that are essential to the functionality of the BMP.

And my ____ is going to explode if I keep seeing Myaccount876's sig photo shaking her bo..., I mean, shaking that bottle.

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp question

It helps me understand trig functions - position being represented by a sine function. Up down up down up down. It makes math a lot easier to understand.

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp question

if you put your camel crap bong down you could at least wire some EMG's HZ to the blackouts preamp, an H4 and an H4A wich will be as close as you can get to run and 81-85 combo trhough the blackouts preamp.

don't worry as also i cannot get my eyes far from Myaccount876's sig photo..... that shaking is hypnotizing.....

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp question

The sad part is that she reminds me of my oldest daughter....thin, small hips, big boobs. I feel like a pervert when I want to stare at that sig.

Re: Blackout Modular Preamp question

As long as the girl in the sig isn't your daughter, it's a-okay because she is 18+ lol. Doppelgängers are fair game.
