Hi,
I run an old BC Rich Mockingbird (koa wings, maple neckthru, ebony fretboard) into a Maxon OD808 pedal right in front a Peavey 5150 with Mesa Rectifier Cab. The Mockingbird have 2 Seymour duncan livewire metal in it. For now, I had to put the volume pot at average position to have a decent precise sound because of the huge output of the LWM.
The thing is I like the livewire tonality but I was wondering if a "blackout neck" in the bridge position could fit better in term of precision? Does it still have the natural dynamic of the LWM or it's a totally different kind of sound ? You should know that I used an emg81 in the past and don't like their "thin plastic" sound. Emg 85 maybe fit ?
Ah yeah... I play 99% of the time on the lead channel on the 5150 so clean sound isn't important.
