Blackout pots don't fit ....aaarrrrrrr!!!

I'm trying to install my new Blackout set in my Jackson SLSMG and the threaded portion of the supplied pots are too wide to fit into the holes in the guitar. I am replacing EMG-HZ's. Does anyone know if I order EMG 25k pots will they'll fit? I don't want to widen the whole and risk cracking the finish.

go to the hardware store and buy a reamer. if it lifts use instant jet on a q-tip to seal it back up.

mine was a little tight, but doable. is the hole way too small or just a little?

Sounds to me like there are three options:

1) Go buy a reamer to open the holes a little

2) Wrap sandpaper around a dowel and slowly open the holes

3) Take it to a qualified tech or luthier.

Installed the Blackouts this afternoon. Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up using sandpaper around a dowel. I did chip the paint just a little in one spot next to the hole. It was my fault as it occured when I hadn't sanded enough and tried to force the pot into the hole. That's what being impatient will get ya. It's completely covered up by the washer and nut though so it can't be seen.

They sound great. I originally tried a Distortion in this guitar, but just wasn't happy.
I have EMG81/81 and 81/85 in two of my other guitars so I figured I'd try these .
I just got it restrung and hav'nt had a chance to really compare them to my other EMG equiped guitars. Won't be a fair comparison anyway as this is the only mahagony/ebony of the three. But so far I love them. Thanks again. Karl
