How do you "insulate" these? My EMGs dont have the wire, so I snipped the Blackout's off...gave me an incredible hum. So I put electrical tape around it....no help.

IDIOT! why the hell would you go off snippin wires off without nowing anything? THERE NOT EMG's you just ruined your pickups . :grumble::butkick:

Erm, when you said "insulated" do you mean you just put electrical tape to the end of the wire or did you actually put a separate piece of tape to every lead so as to make sure that none makes contact with any of the others and then tape them all together?
BTW, the second is the right way...

From installing 2 sets of BO's...I personally ground them.
Which wires did you snip?

You may think it was stupid and so might others here. But degrading someone by calling them an idiot, especially when you may not know them and they're brand new to this forum, is a good way to run them off...

You're right about that, however, you have to remember that the tone of what you say, when it's in written form, is black and white. No one can hear your kidding, sarcasm, or see your smile. All I saw was IDIOT!! He may not have taken it as bad; but I did. That was my perception of how you meant it. So, with that, I have made my point and won't say anymore about it unless it's out of this thread. It's been hijacked enough.

Hm...my wiring is OK, I just unplugged EMG's, popped these in.
Maybe it's because I'm using 18V mod? BO's are so you don't have to use 18V mod, but I don't know how to reverse an 18V mod.

I would reverse the 18V mod, but then check everything for a stray wire touching something. There is more to the story than "I unplugged my EMG's, plugged in the Blackouts, and now they are humming" because it's an impossible premise if everything is wired correctly. Heck I know some EMG employees that would tell you the same thing. :laugh2:

Well, here's what I did after my post, prior to Frank's.
Took apart my guitar, changed my strings, made sure that the 1/2" I left there was not touching anything, squeezed them a little. Popped everything back in, tuned up. Still humming. Then, I tried to play a little something...turns out the action on my high E was really ****ed up. I raised it, part of the humming went away. I raised the action pretty **** high on both, but the humming is still there, more than EMG's. I lowered it as to my preference.
Sounds OK now, still ABing it mentally with my head. I can't use as much gain, but it's OK cuz the BO sounds just the same. I'll try reversing the 18V next if someone is so nice to tell me how to do so!

You just need to remove the second battery connector and solder the two black remaining wires together (1st battery - jack ring).
