Are these along the same lines? Quick connect?? Or are they totally separate systems?

I got my SD info from the booth, but the whole thing seems confusing. Blackout singles vs LW IIs...

Any info or insight appreciated. I have a LUKE with EMGs I'd like to upgrade, I like gain but not EMG 81 type gain. Thanx.

When the new Livewires Classic II's become available, they will all be compatible with Blackouts. 9-volts, 25k pots, and quick connects. The Blackout singles are HOT and they have gain reduction pins if you want to reduce the output. The LWClassic II singles are still louder than vintage singles but they have our vintage voicing. So those are Seymour Duncan's representation of vintage tone in an active design. You could have a Blackout single in the bridge and two LWCHII's in the neck and middle, or a Blackout Bridge Humbucker with a LWClassic II Strat in the middle, and a LWClassic II Humbucker in the neck for example. They're all interchangeable, but the LW Classic II designation will generally refer to the cleaner, more vintage sounding units. Hope that helps!

That does help Frank! I can't wait to see some more info on the blackout singles... might have to order me a couple of 'em.

What about the new metal Blackouts? I thought the original Blackouts were for metal? Now I'm confused? What's the deal with the new ones? (six-string models)

Re: Blackouts/Live Wire Classic II at NAMM '08

Derek from Duncan who was at Namm suggested if anybody was looking for something close to EMG 60 to put the Classic II in the neck. Which i think i'll have to try.

I noticed in the Catalog i got from Namm it list the BO neck being Alnico V and the Bridge being ceramic with steel blade. Maybe this is the reason you guys are putting the neck in the bridge, maybe not liking the sound of the ceramic pup?

Also: blackouts metal(livewire classic)= alnico v, livewire classic II=alnico II bar

Re: Blackouts/Live Wire Classic II at NAMM '08

Basically the Blackouts Metal replaces the Livewires Heavy Metal. It has that sound. You can't play it clean, and it has a searing midrange for solos. For those of you who like the Livewires Metal, this is 9-volts, 25k pots, and compatible with the other Blackouts. So you could have the LW Metal in the bridge, and the Blackout bridge or neck in the neck position.

That's pretty nice that SD made that livewire metal active pickup now compatible with other active like blackout bridge, neck, and other brand. Also, there will be two output available for the metal! Frank, have you try the blackout metal? Does it sound like the former livewire metal? Cause I have a old one (10 years) and would like to know is there any improvement to the tone or anything.

Sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can the PU's be ordered separately or do they come in just a set?
