Blackouts Metal and Singles dual pin question.

Does anyone know were the Blackouts Metal and Singles designed "by default" to work on the "Louder" or "Loud" mode. I know they come out of the box with the jumper in place which is the "Louder". But in the product description says: "... For an on-board boost", which might imply that the "Loud" is the normal mode and the "Louder is the extra mode.

Also how do you guys have those wired in your guitars. Do you use the "Louder" as normal mode and then "split" or "tap" to the "Loud" mode. Or do use the "Loud" as the normal mode and then "boost" to the "Louder" mode.

I got the AHB-2 for the bridge and AS-1b for the neck, both in WHITE :)

Any input is welcomed.

i had mine wired with a toggle switch but i'm pretty sure i had it set for the "louder" setting most of the time.

Re: Blackouts Metal and Singles dual pin question.

I wired my singles as the non jumpered as normal and the switch as the boost. I ended up using the boost most of the time. I think the situation may differ with the abh2 though

Yeah thought it would. Thanks!

I have the AHB2b wired to boost when I pull up on the tone knob. There's an AHB-1 n (neck PU) in front and it's almost overpowered by the metal pup even in "normal" mode. (They're just about even volume-wise) I should've done what the OP did and got a bridge pup for the neck as well.. :(

Oh I don't have the humbucker in the neck, I have the single coil in the neck so I have H/S set up. For what you just told me the single coil in the neck, even though it's the hotter bridge version, is for sure going to be overpowered by the metal in the bridge. I've heard that the Metal is EXTREMELY hot as Duncan says it is but It's even hotter than people can imagine.

I haven't wired them yet and don't know which way I'm going to go. One way would be to wire the Metal to normal and pull to boost and the neck to "full" and pull to "Split" so in "normal" mode they'd be more balanced but then when you pull the push/pull then metal would be in Extreme mode and neck pup in half mode and that can't be good.

Re: Blackouts Metal and Singles dual pin question.

Oh...sorry I assumed you meant a 'bucker in the neck..

I actually have mine in an HsH guitar ...with an Ah-1n (single) in the middle. I've wired it (the single) so that it's on full/boost all the time (not connected to the push-pull). It actually balances pretty well with the metal when it's raised up closer to the strings a bit...but then there is'nt much physical distance between the two pups.

Lowering the metal pup will give it more dynamics and make it a bit "thinner" sounding...but it does'nt help as much with reducing the output/volume...lol

No matter what you do..it sounds LOUD!

...But yeah, playing around a bit with the PU height will definately help a bit with balancing things more... I have my metal bridge lowered almost level with the surface of the guitar...

It's an amazing sounding pickup though...very dynamic & responsive & really has a nasty snarl to it...definately lives up to it's name ;)

Re: Blackouts Metal and Singles dual pin question.

How would you define the neck pickup? and do they come in sets? Any info is welcome!

I haven't wired them yet. I know I should have already but I've had some problems getting the equipment.

But the singlecoils come in sets of 3 or you can buy the bridge version or the middle/neck version separately.

The Metal is just the one pickup, no sets. Although they might come in sets with some other blackouts pickup.
