Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

So I got a Smoking deal on a set of AHB-1 Blackouts the only problem is I have a HSH setup and I only have active HH PU's What is recommended that would be compatable and Sound correctly as far as a S PU to place in the middle position of my HSH setup?
Now i realize the Blackouts are not splitable so I can not wire it up so that there is a In-Phase out-Phase option, I think all I can do is wire it up so I can have B/B-M/M/M-N/N
B=Bridge
M=Single Middle PU
N=Neck
I am not in a Massive hurry to get a single PU I just wanted to get some Ideas and some opinions from others on here as to what they have tried and liked/found did not work at all like they hoped/?
I mostly play Metal (as to why I wanted the Blackouts) But was shockingly suprised when I was playing around and set my RP1000 to the MetalClean Preset and found that with the Blackouts combined with this preset I was getting some really awesome clean tone so I am starting to play alot more claen stuff but still in the metal Genre Hopefull that makes sense LOL.
Thanks in advance

Re: Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

The obvious candidate is a Blackouts Single. These are available (excuse the pun) singly. They even come with a jumper connector to chose between high and low output.

Re: Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

Thanks Funkfingers, Does Seymour Only make one style of Active Single? As I seen Bfeeny mentioned 3 Different EMG Singles and on that note I actually know where I can get a EMG S I believe for around $45. I like the Jumper Idea for High an dLow output thats pretty cool, I guess I will have to Look up the SD Singles and then see if I can find one at a comparable price to the EMG I found. I just wasn't sure if the EMG would cause any Isses trying to Implement it with the SD Technology from what I can tell there is quite a difference between the way EMG and others make their Active PU's and teh way SD makes theirs

Re: Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

EMG offers a dazzling array of Stratocaster-sized replacement pickups. In addition to the three mentioned by Bfeeney, there are the SAV, SLV plus all of the -X versions.

The advantages that the SD Blackouts Single offers over the EMGs are the selectable output level and the cosmetic match for your existing BO humbuckers. Additionally, the output level jumper could be useful. Setting the pickup's output high and its height low would leave more room for plectrum or fingernail activities.

Re: Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

Yea it coul dbe very useful also like the Single PU Herman Li Uses on Dragonforce it is a high output which allows him to have it dropped down low in order to keep it out of teh way for fast Speed Picking and other cool Pick Actions, I am thinking that may be the one i end up using, I can get a EMG S for $41 but having the ability to select High Output with the Jumper then dropping down out of the way may be well worth teh extra money. Plus I am adding a Metal Mayhem Twin Tube Distortion Pedal to my RP1000 so I should have plenty of Umph to get what I want out of the setup.

Re: Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

Yes I will Be sure to do that, It may take me a wee bit of time to get this all together since I do not have alot of $$ at my disposal but I appreciate the Info, I like the idea of the Super Switch thanks RI, Sorry about my Spelling all of a Sudden I have a bad Case of Dyslexic Typing and I do not know why, I never used to have that Issue but I have noticed almost all of my The's are that way and some times I forget to proof read my posts before I post them. I will also let you all know how the Metal Mayhem Twin Tube Distortion Pedal Works in the Stomp Loop of my Digitech RP 1000, I have a feeling with the Blackouts this Pedal is going to just be smoking Awesome. I am hoping I can run it in the Stomp Loop of the RP1000 seeing how it is a Hardcore Unit I am not sure if the RP1000 will like the increased Input if i ran it between Guitar and RP1000.

Re: Blackouts Need S Compatable PU?

I will say I sure am Glad I bought a Stahl Variable Temp Solder Station and had a lot of Soldering I coudl practice on it sure makes adding Pickups and wiring in Potentiometers, Switches, etc. alot easier and cheaper then having to pay to have someone else solder them in. Plus it is nice to be able to do good quality solder work and not have to worry about Cold Joints or overheating the Electronics while trying to solder them.
