Is there an advantage / disadvantage to running a Blackstar HT-5R combo with an additional cab as opposed to running the HT-5R head with a cab?

I have the first series HT-5h and cab mini stack. I found the stock loudspeaker disappointing so I upgraded to an Eminence.

As long as you keep to the impedance tolerances, the head can drive any brand of loudspeaker cabinet. I liked my amp through a MESA/Boogie Compact Thiele ported 1x12. (EVM12L!) Plenty of owners like the HT-5h through a 4x12.
