Hey guys, I have been looking for a new stompbox for metal and I have had a few suggestions that I should be looking at the Blackstar line up?

What is the general consensus on these products around here?

I hope it is OK to put this thread here.

Re: Blackstar Distortion Pedals?

I've heard a bunch of YT videos I think they sound really good, I also like the AMT pedals and Tech 21 Character series.

I've got a Dual, and it is pretty amazing, but doesn't have as much gain as the DistX or the Metal.

What kind of Metal are you playing?

(ps. shouldn't this be in 'Amplifier Central'?)

Re: Blackstar Distortion Pedals?

the HT-Metal seems to be a 'Dual' version (ie. Clean/Crunch + Lead) of the DistX, which is an amazing concept

The Metal seems like a great pedal, with the options for clean boost, overdrive and lead, combined with the isf and eq options!

Re: Blackstar Distortion Pedals?

"filth machine" is how they also described the DISTX and quite frankly it could not hang with the Damage Control Solid Metal pedal. The Blackstar was noisy, the gain knob didn't have much use past 2 o' clock, and the ISF didn't have much as impact to the tone that i was expecting.

You must have tried a faulty unit because mine is nothing like what you've described.

Re: Blackstar Distortion Pedals?

I haven't tried a Blackstar pedal yet, but my Way Huge Swollen Pickle Fuzz is amazing for metal.
