It is, and at least as functional. Used all of them for reamping when I worked for a recording studio. All worked fine. I did not became the fan of the mini JCM though.

it's for my bedroom and my sound card
i have played with a ht1r in a shop and the gain was very high gain and i like it
even if this amp has bad clean tones
the 8" speaker is not good at all for a guitar solo but it is really amazing for a guitar rhythm player
but the dsl and jvm 1 have a 8" speaker too so ?
about the ht1r : have you played with the blackstar ht dual and this amp too?
I WANT a 10"
have you tried a ht dual +pod farm 2+sound card or ht1r + sound card +pod farm 2 .?

I believe that kramersteen has a Blackstar HT-1 in his guitar workshop.
I have a HT-5 mini stack, purchased pre-owned. I agree with the comments about the need for a better loudspeaker than the stock MIC apology for a Celestion. For what it is worth, I upgraded my HT-5 with an Eminence Legend.

I don't know anything about the amps you mentioned, but the blackstar ht5rh is a monster.

i liked the distortion with the ht1r but the speaker is not good enough for a good guitar solo
so, it will be with a blackstar cabinet but it is a 12" and i wanted a 10 " but ok

i really don't know if this amp is just for for rhythm player or not
because i like lyric and blues guitar tones: Gary Moore, Satriani sometimes
and i am not sure the sound is really good for that except there is a lot of gain
if they had built a ht1 with 10" or 12" speaker it would have been easy to buy it
or i can use it just for fun because i have the Marshall sl5

My Cornell Romany Plus is switchable between 10, 2, 1/4 and 1/8 watts RMS. The differences in sound pressure level are not nearly as great as you might imagine.

i will never buy another amp with 5 to 1w
i h ave the sl 5
first, i don't like the sound : not enough gain to have fun with it
second, 1w= all the dynamic and trebles are lost
you recommend the ht 1 with the blackstar 12"? or another ?
i would like the perfect head +foostswith with 2 or 3 channels for a bedroom =))

As mentioned yesterday, kramersteen owns, uses and enjoys this amplifier. If a metal fiend like him is happy with the amplifier's gain, it should satisfy you.

Oh yeah i do like mine. But it's about 100x better when driving my quadbox.
Good, simple, cheap and fun.
The gain can be a bit muddy on some guitars. So Sometimes i put the maxon in front of it. I have tried it with a few effects pedals too and it was perfect for that.

The stock valves in budget Blackstar amps are nothing special. New ones from a reliable source will be a worthwhile investment.
