Blackstar HT-5 VS. Blackstar HT-5 Metal

Re: Blackstar HT-5 VS. Blackstar HT-5 Metal

I have a ht5 and I like it a lot. And it can get pretty loud especially if you run it through a 4x12 cab(50 -100 people, small room)
Tone wise the isf function is very useful and a tone knob on the clean channel is also a good idea. You can hook up various cabs (8 or 16 ohm). I havent used the line out or emulated line out so no comment.
It is a modern marshallesque sound and if your thing is vintage blues or jazz, this may not be the amp for you.
Also takes pedals great. However I the control knobs are hard to dial in darker settings. You just can't see the damn dot. My 2 cents

Get the regular HT5 and if you need more gain pick from hundreds of pedals (it has a lot on its own).

I've never been very impressed with the extreme/metal/super rad version of any amp and I see these on sale for cheaper than the regular HT5 all the time. I figure it's just got some added solid state gain? Correct me if I'm wrong ofc

I only have limited experience, but i found the metal version to be really muddy, fuzzy and dark. I would put an OD in front of the original one any day before buying the metal version.
