Blackstar Pedals

Has anyone tried them? I saw them on Guitar Buyer and I'm interested...

They use tube pre-amplification (nothing new) but they say they do something different from any other tube pedal maker. They supply 300V to the tube, just like in normal amps.

...and once they're made from an ex-Marshall team, I'm really interested in hearing them...

Re: Blackstar Pedals

The SD Twin Tube pedals use high plate voltages on the tubes also, there are others too. I know the Radial pedals use the tubes in "starved" low voltage mode, but there are plenty that use high voltages, maybe not 300V, but 250 or so.

I just looked up the Blackstar pedals, they look very cool but don't seem to be available in the US. http://www.blackstaramps.co.uk/products/ht/index.html

Re: Blackstar Pedals

There are now a few pedals that use 'proper voltage' but the blackstar pedals look very interesting!

Re: Blackstar Pedals

I tried the distortion one, sounded absolutely brilliant. I loved it. Very versatile for sure and a beautiful sound. Obviously sounds better in front of a tube amp as an extra channel. Great prices.

Re: Blackstar Pedals

Ah I didn't know about the others....I was never interested in pedals enough for research but these Blackstars are VERY interesting. I want to make a pedalboard around one of them (HT-Dist or HT-DistX), so I can use it whenever I can't use a suitable amp. Very handy I think.

I'm thinking a dist pedal, an EQ and a wah. Maybe a compressor later, but this is mostly for recording.
Maybe the EQ pedal is too much once the Bklackstars have the ISF function (cool patent btw). It shifts the center frequency of all three (bass, mid, treble) controls altering the sound dramatically.

...and yeah the prices rock!
