Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

What guitar would you buy with it? I don't know what kinds of limitations the Custom Shop may have (if any) but for the purposes of our discussion, base guitar must be something Fender makes. Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jaguar, Mustang, whatever. I'll start:

Body: Stratocaster. Swamp ash. Metallic orange with metal flake. Nitro finish.

Neck: V-shaped, maple, medium jumbo frets, large 70's head & decal, 4-bolt, sculpted heel. Simple black inlays on side & along the top of the fretboard (like the Ibanez Petrucci model had 'em.) Maybe even a Ritchie Blackmore-style neck scallop where it starts flat and gradually increases until the 12th fret where it's fully scalloped.

Controls: White, SSS configuration, white/black/white 3-ply pickguard

Pickups: Duncan Antiquities or Fender CS 54's

Bridge: Hardtail

Other: TBX or some other dB booster, locking tuners, LSR nut

I think that's about it. Other than maybe the paint job I'd bet it wouldn't cost outrageously much either. What about you?

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

Um, i'd get an Alder H/S/S strat, with a vintage trem.

A thick Maple neck with a rosewood board, blue (like curly's) and that would be all i'd want from fender

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

hell if I know. I like to change sh*t too much.

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

i'd get a Koa showmaster
maple/Koa/maple neck thru body
H-S-H pickup configuration
sh-5 custom for bridge
antiquity texas hot for middle
pearly gates for neck
floyd rose pro bridge, extra recess for floyd
24 fret brazilian rosewood fretboard
mother of pearl blocks with abalone crosses in them for inlays
emerald green stain over AAAAA quilted maple top
gold hardware
1 volume, 1 tone, 5 way switch

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

I'd get a Bluesbird with a Korina body, figured walnut top, 59 LP neck carve, ebony fingerboard, and a pair of PG's.

Oh, and gold hardware.

The Fender CS does do Guilds, right? :burnout:

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

Hmm...

Body : Light ASH
Neck : all maple, 22 frets, large headstock, med frets, fat C profile.
Vintage trem
Current SC's I use in my Strat

And maybe a big sculpted pair of boobs in front :D

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

Give me a Jaguar shaped body. - Mahogany back/ AAAAA flame maple top - orange, maple w/ indian rosewood neck (MOP dot inlays), 25.5'' scale length. Medium roundback, 10'' radius, light oil finish on the neck, light lacquer finish on the body

H-S-S configuration... same pickups I have now (Wagner SR single coils and a Dark Burst HB), 1 volume, 1 tone, 1 blend (MUST have), 5-way for magnetic pickups, 3-way toggle for piezo system, 1 piezo blend control, 1 piezo dark/mid boost control, GraphTech F.A.A.S. loaded

Chrome hardware and of course, the Transperformance tuning system.

Yeah, that'd would be the end all guitar. Perfect strat/Les Paul/inbetween and acoustic tones all with the flip of a switch. Not to mention being able to change between over 200 alternate tunings on the fly.

Of course, if I wanted all of this on there... I think those Fender masterbuilders' brains would explode

True. Fender does own Jackson, Charvel, Gretch, etc. Although I believe they are all still their own companies and therefore would have their own custom shops.

Guild makes the Benny series of archtops in the Fender custom shop, which leads me to beleive that at least the custom Guilds would be built through the Fender CS.

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

Strat, Mahogany body w/ quilt maple top, faded cherry sunburst. 22 fret maple neck, charvel SD profile. SD ´78 Bridge HB, Charvel NOS vintage bridge (Jackson Custom shop is 2 halls down :D), Sperzel tuners, all in gold :32:

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

I've narrowed it down to...

A relic nocaster: Swamp ash body, fat slightly 'v' neck, med jumbo frets, compound radius, gotoh vintage replacement locking tuners, wilkinson three piece intonatable brass saddles and stock nocaster pickups. Finished in either shoreline gold with matching stock, pink paisley or white blonde.

Or the same thing with an alder body and white blonde finish, a la Steve Cropper.

Or this:

-mahogany body.

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

fender custom shop? a '63 relic jazz bass, but id go SD for the pups heh

guitarwise... a 3 tone sunburst jazzmaster, maple fretboard, SD soapbars....

thatll do nicely :afro:

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

Uhmm, i wouldn't send it to the custom shop. I would do my research and find an original 69' strat, then write the check :-)

Nice tries, Boys, but no Dice, I think even my NOS Charvel Trem is stretching it. They may be in the same building, but they do NOT work together in that sense ;)

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

In that case, write the check out to me. **** Fender!!

In realization of how much flaming I'm going to get for that, I've decided to leave it as it was originally typed. :fing25:

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

I'ld have them make one more of the limited edition Rory Gallagher reproduction they did, based on his guitar.

Re: Blank check made out to Fender Custom Shop

I would have them make me a Nocaster in white blonde with a black bakelite pickguard. I'd have heavy knurled knobs and a 4-way switch. The neck would be a big, honkin' U-shape with medium-jumbo frets. The body's finish would be very thin and the neck would be birdseye maple with an oil & wax finish. It would be light ash. The pickups would be either a Fender Nocaster set with a 10k bridge pickup or a set of Alnico II Pros. Posibly a Fender Original Vintage bridge pickup and a Texas Special Tele neck pickup. Maybe a LP Deluxe minibucker in the neck and a JD in the bridge....
