'Blocked' the Trem in my Strat. Awesome!

yup - reading the first post makes it clear that this could've been done to fix the problem - the bridge was pulling up when playing because there was not enough pull from the springs counteracting the pull of the strings

If you float the trem 1/8" as stated above that will balance the strings v. springs pull and you should have the benefit of good tone and a useable trem.

I took 4 or 5 pennies, duct taped them on the sides (not the top or bottom), put it in the tremolo cavity then used 5 springs.

I have the vibrato either blocked with a block of wood or the springs set so tight that the tremolo won't move easily on all of my Strats.

I never use the vibrato anyway and a floating vibrato gives a warbling tone that I just can't live with.

I do alot of double stop bends and pedal steel type Tele licks where I'll hold one note and bend another note against it. If the vibrato isn't blocked the note I'm holding will drop in pitch when I bend the second note because the vibrato will move forward a little and lower the pitch.

Anyways...good move!
