The best way is actually to get it fixed
Must be a nut problem and saddles as well?
Blocking a trem is easy, get a piece of wood that fits behind the block in the cavity, no movement.
Personally I would just get the thing checked instead.

What is it with people and trems??
Sorry I am not here to whack you on the head, but sometimes I just wonder if people knows what they want when they buy strats?
Put in all five springs and tighten the claw, lower the studscrews until the trem is resting on the body, and then adjust the height of the saddles until the action is normal again, because it is too much work for a very litte advantage to install a hardtail on a pre-routed strat!

I've had the guitar for about two years and simply stopped using the tremolo not soon after I bought the guitar. It's either I block the trem or I get locking tuners/new bridge/graphite nut or I spend my money to fix up my two current guitars and have them sound appealing to my ears - it's really only temporary but I wanted to at least try it!
