Cool. I'm in the "parts acquisition" phase with mine. Body ordered (and it comes with some extras that I won't need to get). Neck and bridge are next. I have everything else.

Re: Blog: Building a Parts Strat

I've done three so far, and the ideas for 4, 5 & 6 are regularly rattling round the back of my head. Here are those first three..

Re: Blog: Building a Parts Strat

I've been thinking of a parts-caster for years but in the end I decided to go one step further and commission a custom-builder to build be one from scratch.

I honestly couldn't be happier I went this way, and with that guy, Will Stinnett.
Like Jay says, you can't possibly plan enough, I've been planning every little detail for the better part of almost 3 years, thinking and revising everything ans when it came down to it I STILL found that I hadn't thought of everything (in my case it was the type of veneer on the headstock, color combination of hardware and type of jack-plate).

That's where someone more experienced and knowledgeable than you having your back helps immensely.

But now, TBH, the new SDUGF CS run has me kinda itching to go for a new build, just that I can't actually justify it, to my self or my wallet.. :9:
