strings, there has to be a fixing point for them. These points are called bridges

Really? On quite a lot of my guitars I fix the strings someplace past the bridge

Seriously though, couldn't you do that past the bridge area on like a Jaguar?

Yeah. Or like on a les Paul, the bridge is the TOM, not where the strings are fixed.
