Blog update, finished SuperStrat build!!!

Re: Blog update, finished SuperStrat build!!!

Great build man. Looks awesome. I'm another advocate of shellac. I mainly use it as a seal coat, because it sticks to anything, and anything sticks to it.

Great sealer for pesky oily wood skunk stripes that refuse to take finish.

How did the tru oil work on top of it?

Where in Jersey are you located?

Re: Blog update, finished SuperStrat build!!!

I too use shellac. A LOT of it as tie coats and for sealing in stains, etc. It is the only VOC I use - everything else in my shop is water borne. I tried some of the Target WB shellacs but with only marginal success. Don't think I'd use much shellac on a neck though because as the finish film thins from wear, etc the shellac will become exposed and the heat and moisture on the hand will soften it and it'll get sticky.

Thats exactly why I went with Tru-Oil over the shellac :smokin:
