Hi,
Ran a search, but I thought being the Guitar forum, someone may said something about this quite historic guitar getting horribly sliced by a lefty.
I am comment curios, not so much a question per se,

Yep, it was sold when he switched to Les Pauls. And the top horn was cut away soon after, in the mid-60s when the guitar was only a few years old. It might sound like butchery, but that Tele wasn't iconic then. Far from it. If there was any significance attached to that particular instrument, it would've been notoriety from its appearance with Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival. We see that as an important turning point, a genuine sea change. But at the time a lot of folks were scandalized. Some would've hated that guitar as a symbol of everything that was wrong in music.

People were pretty casual with their instruments in those days, too. Including Bloomfield, who treated them as tools, replaceable or at least pretty much interchangeable. He was known often to ride the city buses to sessions carrying his Les Paul around without a case, sometimes with the cord plugged in and dragging. This may be the reason why some photos show the jackplate held on with duct tape.

In fact, I'm not sure that first Tele of his ever had a case- he didn't buy one when he got it. And if he heard that the guy he sold his Tele to had carved it up, he probably wouldn't have given it a second thought.

Back then it was no big deal. But it sure seems like a shame now.
