Hey Guys

What tubes are you using in yours?
What speaker are you using?
What sound are you going for with your set-up?

Thanks

Lou

Re: Blue Jr. Tubes.

lou,
I have JJ power tubes (36ma) from Eurotubes. I have an NOS GE in V1, and I think probably JJ's in the other slots, with a matched PI, I think.

I have a Jensen RI C12N speaker, so mine is more "American" than "British" tone.

I got the impression that the newer ones are voiced a little brighter.

here's a pic of mine:

also, the majority of clips on my site are with this amp.

did you get yours working?

Yes I brought it with me to the show an amp tech was there and checked it ovet the one power tube had blown and shorted the fuse the other PT was on it's way out.
It is fine now but all he had was a couple of Russian tubes he recomended JJs

I got a DVD at the show Blues Breakers 70th Birthday Concert it is cool seeing those old guys kick but.

Thanks

lou,
cool, glad it was no big deal

I'd get a pair of JJ's from eurotubes, or gearjoneser's friend. tell them what tone you're aiming for, since it's fixxed bias, and the tubes determine the tone of the amp. might as well pick up a couple preamp tubes while you're at it.

yeah, I have the Birthday double CD, and it's pretty good. Funny, but I like the regular Bluesbreakers as much as the special guests!

Lou -

I'm using a full set of Electro Harmonix preamp and power tubes, plus a ceramic "Blue Dog" from Weber VST. The amp had plenty of bass even before the speaker change, so the slightly brighter (than JJ's) EH tubes fit what I was going for tonewise - more British I guess.

I just wish there were some way to fix the reverb so it doesn't sound like crap.
