BLUE Snowball demo #1

I got some recording/mic gas and I picked up a BLUE Snowball (a USB condenser mic) just got get ideas and such on tape quick... here's a quick demo I did.

~Seagull S6 Cherry, D'addario .013-.056 phosphor bronze strings,
~BLUE Snowball
~GarageBand 3.0

Reverb on both guitars, panned slightly right and left, minimal EQ on guitar playing lead lick.

So far I like the tone a lot!! Sounds pretty good even on cheapie headphones. Very detailed and full. I hope it fares well with my electrics... I'll test that tomorrow.

Whaddya guys think?

That sounds pretty good Bro. Maybe a touch less reverb but the tone is there.

Dang, that does sound good! I agree on the reverb comment, maybe a bit less on the rhythm guitar.

Where've you got it positioned? It'd be nice to get a bit more top end sparkle out of it... maybe move it back 6-10 inches, or aim more towards the bridge? I dig the 12th fret area, as well.

yea it sounds pretty nice. I'd look to mess around to find a little more top end, unless you're going for the more mellow sound. Also, maybe finesse the low end EQ a bit cause im getting a little of that low end weirdness that recording acoustic usually brings about. Again, its not a big deal, but something i'd maybe do myself. Sounds good either way though, fine as it is, really.

I had the front of the mic positioned about 5 inches away from the sound hole, kind of hovering above the upper end of the fretboard at a 45 degree angle, pointed at the sound hole. Pretty close actually. I got about as much top end as I wanted out of that tone.. I always did like fuller more mellow acoustic tones. Although I plan on trying it again around the 12th fret area to see if I can get a tad less pick noise.

Like I said, that's about as much top end as I'd like here but I think I could afford to dial in more if I repositioned the mic and got a tad less pick noise. Plus these strings are about 2 months old so they're sounding a bit mellow as well.

There was a little bit of low end boominess as well. Probably just a proximity effect that i can dial out or reposition the mic for to get rid of. The reverb probably exacerbates it as well.

I'll re-eq it a bit tonight and take off some verb and low end and boost the highs a tad. Thanks for the comments!

Veeeery good!! Digging the sound...sounds perfect to my ears, ok a tad less reverb but I don't need more top end :D

OK, I rolled back the low end on both guitars and but the reverb by about 1/3rd. Sound better. New version's up now. Thanks for the suggestions!
