I'm no blues guy at all but it´s cool to concentrate on tone (vibrato, expression etc.) and realize that it´s dang difficult :D

Nevertheless I just recorded a blues thing inspired by some members here in this section :)

Ibanez RG 2570 (what..who said blasphemy? :laugh2: ), straight into the Engl Screamer the T.C. G-Major...just a tad reverb effect.

I thought you were really playing with great restraint and taste!
Well done..really, I thoroughly enjoyed that.

WHERE did you get the backing? There are some killer players jamming there.:eek13:

Thanks for checking and posting a comment! :)

Sometimes I feel unsure what to play next...my blues vocabulary isn't big..and I should play with more power, though :)

Here's the backer

Re: Blues Attempt

You have a refined electric tone. I suppose its great for Rock and Fusion. I would like to hear you experiment with a quasi-clean tone with a little gutter trash thrown in for good measure. That would be closer to an authentic blues tone IMHO. It might help you feel it better.

Refined modern tone sounds sorta Jeff Beckish. Which is really good! Don't get me wrong! But at the same time it's less authentic sounding.

The authentic blues cats had ricketty axes that were twangy, had trashy tone and zilch for sustain. That kinda tone really forces you to provide all of the feel yourself as you get very little help from the your axe or amp. Definately no pedals, verb or effects of any kind.

Thanks for the comment..I know what you mean and you're right.

Less is more :) I hope I can use less gain in the future..which improves the sound always.

Re: Blues Attempt

I really liked it. There were some parts where you just have to smile because it's so typically blues its awesome, like some of the bends and release bends, then the trill just after.

Brilliant.

Re: Blues Attempt

I would love to hear it plugged straight into a Mesa Boogie Lonestar! My Gawd! What a growl that amp has!

:D That´s one nice comment man..I appreciate that A LOT! :) Thanks!

@Osensei: We had a gig 1 month ago and played our stuff. After us a blues band came and the guitarist had a nice LP and plugged straight into the Lonestar..tone heaven!

Re: Blues Attempt

I thought it was cool. It's very expressive and the best part is you're not trying to sound like someone else. You've got a good style.

Re: Blues Attempt

listening to that made me realize I need to practice more, that kicked my blues lovin' butt! Great stuff, nice little fills and catchy licks!

Man, that was great! You should ditch the shred stuff and stick to this. ;)
Haha, Thanks man! Too kind..I'm now on a blues trip for sure :)

The backer is by the way from a Mike Stern lern book..my guitar teacher gave me some backings..feel free to play over it! I don't know who played the instruments on it, sorry!

Yeah like the rest of us...I am getting slower and slower as well, hehe.

Thank you very much!! I know there´s a lot space for improvement and I have to play what I´ve got in my head instead of rubbing notes on scales..but that's difficult.

Thank you! Load the backing and concentrate on the notes..I love the sound I get in the 14th fret on the g-string with a ton of vibrato..let the notes breath.

Re: Blues Attempt

Great recording . . . it sounded like you relaxed more about a third of the way through and the playing was a lot more fluid . . . your guitar really meshed well with the rest of the instruments.
