Blues Humbucker discussion: SD '59 vs. DiMarzio Air Classics, alternatives?

Re: Blues Humbucker discussion: SD '59 vs. DiMarzio Air Classics, alternatives?

So, if I were to get the SD '59 with 4 conductors, does it matter at all that I only have 1 volume knob and 1 tone knob (with push/pull function)? Does this prevent me from splitting the coil?

No. That's how I roll.

All my guitars are so wired; Master Volume and Master Tone with coil cut.

I have a guitar with a single humbucker, single volume, no tone, no switch and I split that one. It doesn't matter how many volumes/tones you have. Since your guitar is already equipped to split that will save you the trouble. Now it is just a matter of finding pickups with 4 conductor wire.

Alright! I've made my decision and bought a set of SD SH-1's 4 conductors. I'm guessing they'll be here either Saturday or Monday. So after that it'll be installing time. Hope I can figure everything out otherwise I'll be back for more info from you guys.

Wanted to thank everyone for their excellent input. I ended up choosing the '59s because of what the majority of you have said and the fact that I've read a lot of good things about them.

I'll be sure to let you all know how it works out and maybe at a picture!

Good! We're always glad to help. All of us have had others get us up to speed, and we keep the tradition going.
