Blues Jr. Extension Cab

OK. I just bought a new tweed Blues Jr. amp. I really like it. Very nice. anyway, I noticed that it can run an external speaker cab. I have a Marshall 1936 2x12 cab wired to 4 ohms. Do you think it is safe to play throught that?

I admit that the whole ohms things confusses the heck out of me. Fender says that the Jr. can power any quality 8 ohm cab. Is it true that if the ohms are LESS than that everything should be fine? Let me know. I really like the amp and I don't want to destroy something by experimenting with other cabs.

Rock on.

No, you have it backwards. Higher impedence isn't that much of a problem (you will compromise volume but you won't break anything ... in the short term at least), but lower impedence can wreck your amp.

If the Blues Junior is rated for 8 ohms, find an 8 ohm cabinet for it. Under no circumstances should you use a 4 ohm cab, and you should avoid using a 16 ohm cab if at all possible.

You do realize that the second 1/4" jack under the chassis is only for a footswitch, right? The footswitch doesn't come stock with the amp, but it's an on/off pedal for the "Fat" switch.
