Blues Jr. Replacement Speaker?

I'm looking for suggestions for a good replacement speaker (8 ohm)for the Fender Blues Jr?)

The stock one is ok, but it seems to be a bit flabby and just "not the greatest" sounding. I was thinking of getting a low-wattage Celestion since that's what tends to sound good in 4x12 cabinets, but since this is a little open-backed combo, maybe that's not the best idea?... .

Oh yeah - I primarilly use the amp in a cover band - so we do everything from funk to classic rock to pop to country to whatever else drunk people wanna hear...:laugh2:

Thanks,
- Cheeze

Re: Blues Jr. Replacement Speaker?

A replacement speaker does wonders for a Blues Jr. IMHO. I went with a Weber Blue Dog (ceramic), but you may want something with more of a vintage Fender flavor based on your wide range of music. Call Weber, tell 'em what you play and what you're looking for, and they can help.

Of course there are other speaker manufacturers out there, so I'm just writing about what I know.

Anyone else with suggestions? What would approximate "vintage" Fender speaker without me shelling out a ton of bread?

I should note that I know practically nothing when it comes to speakers. This is my first real attempt at swapping out.
